This is the privacy policy for Fortico, a small design studio based in Bude, Cornwall. We've written it the same way we'd talk to you in person — plainly, and without burying anything important. If something here isn't clear, drop us a line and we'll happily explain.
By using fortico.co.uk or getting in touch with us, you're agreeing to what's set out below. We last updated this policy in 2025 and we'll revise it whenever the way we work changes.
Who we are
Fortico is the trading name of a creative studio working with small and mid-sized UK businesses on websites, branding and digital marketing. We're the data controller for any personal information you share with us through this site, by email, or in the course of a project.
If you'd like to reach us about anything in this policy — a question, a correction, or a request to remove your details — email hello@fortico.co.uk.
What we collect
We try to collect as little as possible. In practice, that means:
- Things you tell us directly — your name, business name, email address, phone number and a description of your project, usually via our contact form or email.
- Things your browser shares — anonymised analytics data such as the pages you visit, how long you spend on them, your approximate location and the type of device you're using.
- Cookies — small files stored on your device that help the site work properly and tell us which pages people find useful. You can turn these off in your browser settings at any time.
Why we collect it
The short answer: so we can do good work for you and keep improving the studio.
- To reply to enquiries and quote on projects.
- To deliver the work we've been commissioned to do.
- To send occasional updates if — and only if — you've asked us to.
- To understand which parts of our site are working and which aren't, so we can make it better.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your data. Ever. We do work with a small handful of trusted suppliers — things like email providers, hosting companies and analytics tools — who process information on our behalf. Each of them is bound by their own data protection obligations and we only share what's strictly needed.
If we ever have to disclose your information for legal reasons, we'll tell you about it wherever we're allowed to.
How long we keep it
Project files and correspondence are usually kept for up to seven years, in line with UK accounting rules. Analytics data is anonymised and retained for a maximum of 26 months. If you've asked to be removed from our mailing list, we'll act on that straight away.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Ask what information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct anything that's wrong.
- Ask us to delete your data, where we're not legally required to keep it.
- Object to how we're using it, or ask us to stop.
To exercise any of these, just email us. We'll respond within 30 days, usually sooner.
Cookies and analytics
This site uses a small number of cookies to help it run smoothly and to give us a sense of how people are using it. We use privacy-respecting analytics where we can, and we don't run advertising trackers. You can clear or block cookies at any time through your browser — the site will still work, you'll just lose some niceties like remembering your preferences.
Other websites
We sometimes link out to other sites — clients we've worked with, tools we like, articles worth reading. Once you click away from fortico.co.uk, this policy no longer applies, so it's worth checking the privacy notice of wherever you land.
Changes to this policy
If we change anything material here, we'll update the date at the top and, where it matters, let people on our mailing list know. The current version is always the one published on this page.
Complaints
If you think we've handled your data poorly, please tell us first — we'd much rather put it right. If you're still unhappy, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
